About
The Elephant Family Sanctuary is a wonderful place nested on the edge of the Karen Hilldribe Village, 60km south of Chiang Mai city. Here you will find elephants from young to old, roaming the land, bathing in the mud and river and playing with their mahouts (trainers) whilst surrounded by scenic rice terraces and farm land.
In may 2016 we started The Elephant Sanctuary by adopting 5 elephants to prevent them from learning how to do trics and let people ride on them. We want to give them a home with freedom and a living in their natural habitat. In addition, we give the apprentice a chance to learn how to take care of them.
Each elephant consumes approximately 10% of its weight.
We rent the land of local people to grow bananas, corn and other vegetables. Because the production is still in progress, we buy food from the local people every day to feed the elephants.
In the future we'd like to improve their habitat and be fully indepent on foodresources.
Taking care of elephants is expensive due to the cost of healthcare, shelter and food.
By visiting our sanctuary you support us and improve their life-conditions and give them their freedom back.
Half Day Elephant Experience - 1,700฿
We will pick you up from your accomodations between 7 and 7:30AM. We will then drive for approximately one and a half hours south of Chiang Mai city through scenic landscapes, rolling hills and forestry where you will see local village people at work.
Once we have arrived at the Elephant Family Sanctuary, you will be welcomed with open arms and provided with information about the activities you will participate in throughout the day. Our final stop of the day will be for some relaxation time at the beautiful Mai Wang Waterfall. Here you will have time to enjoy swimming and cliff jumping. You will be dropped off at your hotel around 13:30pm.
Throughout the day, you will experience:

Enjoy a traditional Thai lunch

Full Day Elephant Experience - 2,400฿
We will pick you up from your accomodations between 8 and 8:30AM. We will then drive for approximately one and a half hours south of Chiang Mai city through scenic landscapes, rolling hills and forestry where you will see local village people at work.
Once we have arrived at the Elephant Family Sanctuary, you will be welcomed with open arms and be provided with information about the activities you will participate in throughout the day.
Our final stop of the day will be for some relaxation time at the beautiful Mai Wang Waterfall. Here you will have time to enjoy swimming and cliff jumping. You will be dropped off at your hotel around 17:00pm.
